I used to joke I’d live forever
Which is funny cuz I used to smoke
I used to lie and say I ran this place
When I was living day to day

I would drink when I felt lost and
Most nights I'd hit the bottle
I would run and say it was for my health
When I didn’t know how to ask for help

All those years
Up in smoke
As I rationalized
These changes
I was afraid to try

I met a girl we were happy for a while
Then we weren’t but I stayed in spite
Repeat the cycle a few more times
Took a bit to get it right

I took a job left a job took another
Hated that one left for its brother
Started this thing that was merely a thought
Struggled tried and I fought
