Chapter 11: The things we tolerate
Breathing Room
My friend and songwriting partner, Eric, and I were sitting down to write–and we talked about the transition from: “I want to address this…” to “It’s been too long; this is the way it is now…” It’s the transition from discomfort to toleration. That’s what this song is about.
Breathing Room by Brandon Wilson and Eric Pedigo
History tells me
It’s time to go
With all of our past
I still respond too slow
I find myself with you
No breathing room
I missed the turnoff
Of this path well-worn
I speak my lines
As you keep score
I find myself with you
No breathing room
Walking on eggshells
Standin’ up on our toes
We might as well stay here
It’s all we know
It’s safer here than what we don’t
So we’re walking on eggshells
Together alone
I never told you
I wanted to go
I dreamt about leaving
Heading up the coast
I find myself
I find myself with you
No breathing room
Walking on eggshells
Brittle to our bones
See i never told you
I minded my tone
It’s safer here than letting you know
So I’m walking on eggshells
With you alone
So I’m walking on eggshells
With you alone
So I’m walking on eggshells
With you alone
